Hello, Hello, Hello!!

Ping Pong's Wonderful World of Puppets

Here I am again. A giant Panda hug and welcome to you.

Bring along a special friend and journey with me as we explore the exciting Wonderful World of Puppets.

What's that you say, I'm a puppet? Well of course I am!

Actually, I'm a Marionette, which is a puppet with strings. As you can see, I've got lots of them. They help me move my arms and legs, stand up or sit down, and even roller skate.

I'm really excited that I'm going to be your tour guide, because we'll meet a lot of my friends who are here at the museum with me. They want to meet you too, so we'd better get started.

While adventuring through this wing of the museum, you can make many of my pictures grow larger to get a better look at them.
Simply click on the pictures with the magic paperclips underneath them like the one below, and Presto!, they will become larger.
Just remember to click on my special paw print beside the bigger picture to bring you back here for your journey through the Wonderful World of Puppets.

Click on me to see the larger version of The Graduate and The 4th of July There are many different kinds of puppets found all over the world. Examples of ancient puppets have been found dating back more than 4,000 years.

Each variety was created out of the wonderful culture that gave it birth. The ability puppets have to be both alive and not alive at the same time has given them wisps of a magical quality that has captured the hearts of young and old alike.

"So, what is a puppet?" you might ask.

A puppet is an object that is moved, creating the illusion of life. They can be as simple as using your hand to cast a shadow on the wall, to the complex, dazzling creations of motors, wires, strings and remote controls used in modern movies.

Many of us remember our first puppets from our childhood memories. We may have first seen them at a birthday party, a special outing in the park, or even on TV. Some of us received them as gifts to play with and to present our own puppet stories.

Do you remember the first time you saw a puppet? Did you ever have one of your own? Do you still have one or more?
