In the fall of 1986 we were contacted by the artistic directors of both
Tiffany & Co. and the San Francisco Opera. There was a competition
between the branches of Tiffany's and the Opera companies in New York
and San Francisco, launching a marketing campaign to set off the new opera
season and some exquisite new pieces of jewelry that Tiffany's was offering.
Having worked with the San Francisco Opera before on their children's
events, we were both flattered and honored. We were to select different
characters from our shows to represent past operas performed by the San
Francisco Opera as well as their new upcoming season.
The first four windows we set in were for the history of bygone
performances which were featured for a month. We then set in four
windows featuring the upcoming season. Seven operas were represented
with the stunning jewelry, with San Francisco (and OUR windows)
winning the friendly competition.
They were enjoyed by all.
